Taking the Road Less Traveled

Sponsored by Iowa State University’s Program for Women in Science and Engineering

We are excited to announce the Spring 2010 Career Conferences, “Taking the Road Less Traveled,” sponsored by Iowa State University’s Program for Women in Science and Engineering. The conferences’ goal is to expose girls, sixth through twelfth grades, to career paths within science, technology, engineering and math. More than 2,500 individuals participate in this program each year. In the morning participants hear from professional women; in the afternoon they participate in hands-on activities or tours. Please note that the cost per participant (students and adults) is $8, and conferences often fill before the deadline.

Please remember that we DO NOT reserve spots for conference attendees. We are limited by space and are only able to accommodate 500 participants at each conference. To ensure that our process is equitable, registration is on a first come – first serve basis. Once again, I would like to thank each of you for your interest in attending the Taking the Road Less Traveled Career Conferences. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact me at: heaverlo@iastate.edu or Samantha Meyer, my conference assistant at: trlt@iastate.edu

The spring conferences will be held on the following dates:

April 8 (High School = Grades 9-12)
April 15 (Middle School = Grades 6-9)
April 22 (Middle School = Grades 6-9)

TRLT Career Conference Registration forms and session descriptions, in addition to suggested pre- and post-conference activities, are available on-line at the Program for Women in Science and Engineering website: http://www.pwse.iastate.edu/trlt.html

We look forward to seeing you in Ames this spring! Please feel free to contact us if you have questions or if you have difficulty downloading the forms. Samantha can be reached at (515) 294-5319 or by e-mail: trlt@iastate.edu
